Last night it was mixed emotions

Saw some cool bands. I'm torn between emotions and whether I should stay here or not. I mean, I do want to stay now that I have a job in my field and New York ain't that tempting. The loneliness is killing me and I can't do nothing about it. Right now I just woke up and had a dream Dave was in England and somehow he knew my ex and my ex was sending me notes through him. In the dream I just arrived in England and I was dying to see her. My mind playing tricks on me and my heart going on overdrive. Dancing tonight. Oh and I kept my promise. Drank only cranberry juice and lemon. I guess that's good.

Onward And Downward

I settled on Sygate Personal Firewall after a couple days of testing it and Zone Alarm. Both packages offer a free version for home use with some features disabled.

While more 'geeky,' Sygate seemed to agree with my system better than the Zonelabs offering. Zone Alarm started popping up vector errors during Internet browsing after a couple hours of use, and the only way to get back to a functioning system was a hard reset using the PC power switch. I've heard this is bad for the computer, and I found many instances of this problem in the Zonelabs forums. A review of Event Viewer showed about 50 VSMON.DLL errors, so I uninstalled the software.

The Sygate package installed effortlessly and produced one shutdown error on reboot. After that it was smooth sailing, and it seems to work well. There's more to setting up Sygate's firewall software, and support will cost you a bundle. But, us geeks don't use technical support that often, anyhow. A program popup lets you know a process is trying to access the Internet or your network, and you are given to choice to allow the connection or have the program ask if the connection should be allowed. When a blocked program tried to access the Internet, a popup appeared saying it had been blocked and gave the choice to disable the warning. To me, this means the software is doing its job, so I think I'll stick with it.

Joke a day

This farmer has about 200 hens, but no rooster and he wants chicks. So, he goes down the road to the next farmer and asks if he has a rooster. The other farmer says, "Yeah, I've got this great rooster, named Randy; he'll service every chicken you've got. No problem."

Well , Randy the rooster is a lot of money, but the farmer decides he'd be worth it. So , he buys Randy. The farmer takes Randy home and sets him down in the barnyard, giving the rooster a pep talk, " Randy, I want you to pace yourself now. You've got a lot of chickens to service here and you cost me a lot of money and I'll need you to do a good job. So, take your time and have some fun," the farmer said with a chuckle.

Randy seemed to understand, so the farmer points towards the hen house and Randy took off like a shot ~WHAM~ He nails every hen on there THREE or FOUR times and the farmer is just shocked. Randy runs out of the hen house and sees a flock of geese down by the lake ~WHAM~ He gets all the geese. Randy's up in the pigpen. He's in with the cows. Randy is jumping on every animal the farmer owns.

The farmer is distraught, worried that his expensive rooster won't even last the day. Sure enough, the farmer goes to bed and wakes up the next day to find Randy dead as a doorknob in the middle of the yard. Buzzards are circling overhead.

The farmer, saddened by the loss of such a colorful animal , shakes his head and says, "Oh, Randy, I told you to pace yourself. I tried to get you to slow down, now look what you've done to yourself." Randy opens one eye, nods towards the sky and say's , "Shhh. They're getting closer...."

THIS JUST IN: SLAVERY WASN'T ALL THAT BAD AFTER ALL!

According to a North Carolina school booklet, Slaves actually lived "a life of plenty, of simple pleasures" as opposed to the humiliation, murder, rape and torture that we know happened. The school is defending the booklet, and their decision to use it claiming that "You can have two different sides, a Northern perspective and a Southern perspective" according to the school's Principal Larry Stephenson. Last time I checked Larry, there were more than two perspectives on anything. Even slavery.

The two authors, Doug Wilson and Steve Wilkins have "essentially constructed the ruling theology of the neo-Confederate movement." According to the school. Doug Wilson is even credited with writing the book on classical education on which the school bases it's philosophy. But the insanity doesn't stop there.

Stephenson defends the schools decision by stating: "As a classical Christian school, we think it's important for our students to be able to think and not be slanted to a particular position," Stephenson said. "We want them to think for themselves." Despite the logic that suggests otherwise. The book clearly states that there is one opinion, and the history books are wrong:

"As we have already mentioned, the 'peculiar institution' of slavery was not perfect or sinless, but the reality was a far cry from the horrific descriptions given to us in modern histories." (pg 22)

The school claims that in public schools, students learn one position. "That's not education. That's indoctrination." says Stephenson. It may be important to identify and analyze the motication that caused the adoption of slavery as an institution. But saying: "There has never been a multi-racial society which has existed with such mutual intimacy and harmony in the history of the world" (pg 24) is far fetched and insulting.

Ooh i thought of another one

i was walking my dog, and suddenly felt the urge...

so i took cover and did a huge steaming poo. it was steaming cos it was winter.

my dog started eating it almost before it had completely departed from my body.

it was the most disgusting thing to watch. but watch i had to. he ate every bit of it.

he died a little while after that, caught some viurs, pulvo virus, probably from me.

ah well.. you know what they say... eat shit - and die.

Shitty Bollocks

I once had a shit in a toilet with a particularly shallow bowl. It was a quite a long solid one, and unfortunately was just shorter than the distance twixt anus and porcelain.

It left my arse and almost immediately hit the bowl, and because the fall had been so gentle it stood up straight for a second instead of breaking or splatting. It then leaned forwards and gently caressed my unsuspecting bollocks with its shitty tip, leaving behind a fair sized deposit, before slumping against the front of the bowl as if satisfied with its evil work. I had to clean my poor shit-smeared sack and run home for a shower.

The sensation of having shit on your bollocks is fucking awful, especially when you were just having a normal casual shit and you weren't even fucked or ill or anything. *shudders*
